From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
